Bye Bye Blog

I've made the decision to go private with my blogging. I'll be starting a new one under my account, different name, for my eyes only.

I don't believe anyone reads this (which is fine since I don't post very consistently!), and since I'm really doing it for myself it makes sense for me. I had hoped to get a little more support or even some ass kicking from the weight loss blogging community but I don't feel that I have very much to offer myself so I will move over to my new blog and to a more interactive message board if I get the desire.

Wishing anyone out there a blessed and fit life.

Belle :)

Weekend Woes

Today's weight: 188.5

I REALLY need to get my weekends in check. I've talked about this a million times but they are seriously out of control. Too much food, too little activity = feeling like a bloated whale on Mondays.

Not much to report, training with the trainer today. More lata!

Eating Clean

Today's weight: 188.2

I visited some message boards about eating clean and was a little overwhelmed. I have a hard time with all or nothing eating plans so I am going to just be more intuitive and work on cutting out processed foods. Today I had the following:

B: Kashi cereal and soy
S: Raw almonds
L: Ezekiel bread w/natural peanut butter and 1 T honey
S: Raw almonds
D: Salad w/avo, jicama, corn, lean steak and 2 T ranch
S: Nectarine

I feel satisfied and only had one moment of hunger today. I was concerned with caloric intake with no tracking or point counting but a rough estimate has me between 1300-1500 calorie. Not bad for not feeling like I was dieting!

Tomorrow is our first day of *real* training and sad to say I'm really sore just from my assessment. :/ I'm sure I'll be getting my ass kicked tomorrow, at least I hope so!

I've Got a New Attitude

Today's weight: 189.6

Our first meeting with the trainer went very well. He knows his shit, for lack of a better word.

He has been a competitive athlete and trainer for the past 14 years, he walks the walk as evidenced by his positive attitude and super fit physique. He's a wealth of information and motivating while remaining realistic. I am going into this as a blank slate, putting aside years of yo yo and fad dieting and following his direction.

His first suggestion? Stop counting calories. Stop dieting. Stop eating prepackaged foods. Learn to live eating clean. Get rid of high fructose corn syrup products. Focus on fruits and veggies. Use whole grains, but use them in moderation. Use meats as a side instead of the main part of your meal. And once more, eat clean.

I'm just scratching the surface of our conversation on nutrition and I'm not doing it justice, but needless to say his advice was inspiring, and exciting. No more analyzing every morsel, just making sure my diet is super rich in fruits and veggies, whole grains and small amounts of meats? Okay, that's what a lot of "diets" say but the way he explained it to us and his approach was 100% new to me.

He did a fitness analysis on us and I was pretty disturbed by how much I couldn't do, but he said that in just a few weeks I'd make lots of progress and look back on this moment and be proud of how far I've come.

What's even better, is that all of the workouts can be done in our own home. WE are responsible for creating our meal plans and making the healthy choices with him available to us when we need guidance. WE are the ones making these changes. He's not coming in and giving us lists so that if there's a time we can no longer work with him we're stranded in the middle of an ocean. WE are doing this with the help of a knowledgeable and encouraging person who truly wants us to succeed.

So starting this moment I'm throwing out all preconceived notions, I'm shutting down my all or nothing attitude that has led to failures in the past, and I'm going to start working on my attitude towards fitness and lifestyle changes and take this one day at a time.

One of my favorite quotes from a fitness expert is "Progress, Not Perfection." And that is my new motto. :)

More number crunching

Had to head into work so no weigh in today. Ate like I do on a normal weekend, this tracking is pretty eye opening. Calories are so much lower during the week and then the weekends are off the charts. I know a lot of this is emotional eating in that I use food as my total relaxation and enjoyment method on the weekend. That's pretty upsetting to know that I don't go to a movie, take my son on an outing or go grab coffee with friends, I eat. And eat. And eat.

Personal trainer is coming tomorrow for fitness and nutrition analysis and to give me my program, can't wait.

B- lox + bagel 660
muffin 350
coffee w/cream 75

S- crackers 140
cheese 200
cookies 550

L- kung pao chx 500

D-turkey sausage 340
cheese 90
roll 220
tres leches cake 100

Total: 3225

What I have learned is that I do not think my BMR is actually 2300. If I'm averaging 1500 during the week and around 3300 on the weekends thats an average of 2014 throughout the week. I pretty much maintain (having my normal 5 lb fluctuation) with what comes out to an average of 2014 per day. If my BMR was actually around 2300 than I would be losing an average of about .75 lbs per week or 3 pounds per month. I need to ask the trainer about these BMR calculators...

Beautiful weather

Today's weight: 188.6

Fall is here and that means the weather is down to about 80, it's gorgeous and I can't wait to spend some of today outside! We have plans to take one of our employees out tonight to celebrate a birthday so I plan on eating light throughout the day to make up for it. We have our personal trainer booked and his first visit here will be Monday- I can't wait.

I also cannot believe Europe is so close and I've been sitting here futzing around. It's about 11 weeks away and whereas my prior goal was to be AT goal, my new goal is to get in the 150s by then.

Today I checked my BMR to see what numbers I would need to pull to make this work. I have a very strenuous job so I marked myself as moderately active. Right now my BMR is about 2400. With the trainer it will be close to 2800 and they will have me on a 1200 calorie a day plan until I get to maintenance and I can bump that up. With as much weight as I have to lose (about 60 pounds), my personal trainer and a custom nutrition plan IF I get my ass in gear and use these tools then a 2.5 per week average loss should be totally doable especially when you consider the 5-7 lbs of water weight typically dropped in week one.

Anyhoot, I'm off to spend time with my toddler and start my day. :)

Today's eats:
